Sadly, the first two bugs were the primary reason I stopped playing the game the first time through (that and the glut of FPSes that were coming out at the time), and it's kind of ridiculous that they're still not fixed.

I assumed my comment about the 3rd/5th patch would indicate that I have the latest patch, but I guess not - View image here:. Maybe I'm just getting too used to Doom 3 and HL2. Though I have to admit, the over the top graphic violence still makes me giggle like a schoolgirl.

It reminds me of Q2 quality in things like geometry detail and skinning quality. On a sidenote, I'm finding it hard to believe this game uses the Q3 engine, as the thing just looks REALLY dated. I highly doubt it's a problem with my system as I can't say it's ever happened to any other games, both old and new. It's always come back, but I'm wondering if this is a known issue and if there's a way to stop it from happening. Lastly, I encounter this bug infrequently, but it does seem to happen fairly often (every few hours or so), and appears to be completely random, but basically, for no reason that I can determine, the game suddenly freezes for several minutes. I can fix it by saving and reloading, but is there a fix for this as well? I'm wondering though if there's anything I can do perhaps via the console that can fix this? I recall during my many hundreds (if not thousands) of hours playing Q3, there was some funkiness with hitting ledges of certain heights that would allow you to get over them if you fiddled with a cvar (pmove_fixed?), but I can't recall the details any longer, so I was hoping there was some way to fix this?Īlso, nearly everytime I enter a new map, I appear to be weaponless. There's a couple of ways to get over this (pun fully, and badly intended), by running at them, and by jumping them, neither of which is very conducive to sneaking, as well as making me feel like a monkey (with an assault rifle of course). You'd think that by the third patch (though I think technically it's the 5th), they'd be able to fix the really simple stuff.Īnyway, wondering if anyone knows if there's a fix for the stupid stairs-walking-up-type-movement bugginess in this game? If you've never run across this (and I don't know how you couldn't have if you played the game for even 5 minutes), basically what happens is, you see a staircase, you move towards it in an attempt to go up them, then stop dead in your tracks because apparently, 3-5 inches of vertical impediment of any kind is impossible to traverse. This thing is buggy as all H-E-double hockey sticks.
